Approach Life with Attentiveness

St. Max Sustainability Council invites you to join us for another self-guided, contemplative, nature hike on Sunday, July 8at Lake Rebecca Park. We will gather between 9:15-9:30 in the main parking lot (Follow park sign to beach parking lot; turn left as you enter the park)

“We are speaking of an attitude of the heart, one which approaches life with serene attentiveness, which is capable of being fully present to someone without thinking of what comes next, which accepts each moment as a gift from God to be lived to the full. Jesus taught us this attitude when he invited us to contemplate the lilies of the field and the birds of the air, or when seeing the rich young man and knowing his restlessness, “he looked at him with love” (Mk 10:21).” (Laudato Si #226)

Meditative Nature Hike

The meditative hike at Lake Rebecca Park on June 3 was an invitation to be in the quiet presence of God in nature. (Traversing through the branches of a fallen tree on the trail was an added adventure taken on by even the oldest and youngest of the group!)
Along the way, we paused to savor the words of wise saints and mystics who connected with God in the aliveness of creation.

Pope Francis invites us all to consider some elements of integral ecology: “Nature cannot be regarded as something separate from ourselves or as a mere setting in which we live. We are a part of nature, included in it and thus in constant interaction with it.” (Laudato Si #139)
