Alternative Black Friday
Sunday, November 25, St. Martha Hall
9:00 am -12:00 pm
Chocolate - Coffee - Scarves - Handmade Gifts - Christmas Ornaments
Have you ever wondered about the ethics of Christmas shopping? Here we are in one of the most sacred times of the year and we are bombarded with ads telling us to fight for the best deals; we hear about people literally being trampled at stores.
What if you could buy meaningful, beautiful gifts for your loved ones that help transform the world into a more loving, peaceful place? That is why the Sustainability Council is hosting Alternative Black Friday. Gifts available for sale support artisans from the poorest corners of the world. These artisans are paid a living wage and have access to health care.
Instead of just donating money, you can actively uphold the Catholic Social Teaching principle of The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers which states “The economy must serve people, not the other way around. Work is more than a way to make a living; it is a form of continuing participation in God’s creation.”
