Being Church Together this Holy Week

Greetings in Christ,

No doubt this has been a unique Lent and start to Holy Week for all of us.  Although public Masses remain suspended, large gatherings are on hold, and maybe even your family Easter traditions are in flux, there are still ways for us to honor this important season in the Church and celebrate Easter!

If you have not done so already, join in the Virtual Holy Week Retreat with Archbishop Bernard Hebda, Bishop Andrew Cozzens, and all the faithful across the Archdiocese at archspm.org/holyweek! Remember to join our St. Max family for Triduum liturgies and Easter Mass at our parish Facebook page where we will be Livestreaming our services.  Here is the link to our website for times and the Facebook link: delanocatholic.com.

Earlier this week, The Catholic Spirit published a story explaining the severe financial toll on parishes during this pandemic. Our parish is no exception. Your generous contributions are necessary to pay staff, meet pastoral needs, maintain our facilities and find new ways to minister. To be quite candid, we count on the Easter collection to be one of the biggest of the year.  Simply put, it’s unlikely that we’ll be anywhere close to what you’ve generously provided for Easter’s past.

We strive daily to be good stewards and stretch every penny, but we’re relying on your continued support to keep St. Max going during these difficult days!

Please contribute whatever you are able to offer during these financially burdensome times, not just for our parish, but for families. Would you consider setting aside that $20 you would ordinarily spend to go to the movies or that $5 you would spend on a coffee but are not during the stay-at-home order? That $5 or $20 could be a big help to St. Max.  Every little bit helps. If your family is not experiencing financial burden at this time, please prayerfully consider increasing your giving.

Here is how to give a recurring or one-time gift:

1. Give online!  It’s the easiest way to support your parish.  Click here: Online Giving

2. Drop off in the mail slot at Door 4 at the parish office: 204 S. River St., Delano

3. Mail in your usual collection envelopes to our parish office at PO Box 470, Delano, MN  55328

I pray and know that God sees our need and will take care of us all. The Lord is never outdone in generosity. He knows the sacrifices each of us make in order to be generous and is in turn generous in taking care of us. Thank you for supporting our parish so that St. Max can continue to minister to you.

May God bless you abundantly this Holy Week!

In Christ,

Fr. Kyle Kowalczyk
Parochial Administrator
