Dear St. Max Parishioners,
What to say in times like this? It seems like anything anyone says is condemned by the other side, somehow or other. Even silence has been criticized. I didn’t preach on it last weekend because I didn’t think your first time back to the Eucharist in 2 months should be about racism. Even this letter will be too much for some and too little for others. All I can say is this: I offered Mass for the soul of George Floyd on Monday and I continue to pray for peace in our world and peace in our hearts. St. Paul reminds us that where sin abounds, grace all the more. We see the sin, we must look for the grace. We need more Jesus. Only Jesus can save us.
